The theme of the 2008 Festival of Speed is ‘Hawthorn to Hamilton – Britain’s Love Affair with World Motor Sport’. Britain has also long played a key role in the global motor racing industry, forging successful relationships with the rest of the motor sport world. From Mike Hawthorn – who used a Ferrari to become Britain’s first Formula 1 World Champion fifty years ago in 1958 – to current star Hamilton, driving a British engineered F1 car with German power, British drivers and engineers have utilised global resources to achieve success.

This years theme was 'Racing Colours - National Pride and Culture', with cars from different countries chosen to represent the makers' cultures, passions and skills. See everything from British racing green Bentleys to Ferraris and Maseratis in Italian red; and from German 'Silver Arrows' to Bugattis and Matras in evocative French blue. Joining the action for the first time was Australian touring car legend and nine-times Bathurst 1000 winner Peter Brock, who added an international flavour along with Indy 500 winners Johnnie Rutherford, Bobby Unser,Danny Sullivan, Arie Luyendyk, Gil de Ferran and Al Unser Jr. Away from the hillclimb, the dust flew on the new Forest Rally Stage where rallying legends Hannu Mikkola, Sandro Munari and Jean Ragnotti were re-acquainted with the Group B rally cars that made them famous.

Goodwood Revival 2006 DVD

The 2006 Goodwood Revival combined many renowned racing names with some of the rarest and most famous historic racing machines, dicing wheel-to-wheel in often changeable and challenging conditions. Star drivers and riders in action included Revival stalwarts Sir Stirling Moss and Derek Bell; F1 stars Christian Klien and Vitantonio Liuzzi; motorcycle heroes Wayne Gardner and Niall MacKenzie; plus the late Australian touring car legend Peter Brock driving in his final circuit race.

Eight Spitfires in the air, the most over West Sussex skies since 1945, helped celebrate 70 years since the maiden flight of this magical machine, and set the backdrop to a moving tribute to Revival regular, Spitfire pilot and aircraft ace Ray Hanna.

A £30 million grid of stunning GT cars from Ferrari,Jaguar and others contested the one-hour, two-driver TT Celebration, in which IRL star Dario Franchitti partnered three-times Le Mans winner Emanuele Piro to victory. Other drivers at the event included Jackie Oliver,Sir John Whitmore and Peter Brock,making his historic racing debut.

This years' Revival celebrated the career af Sir Jackie Stewart, whose single-seater career began at Goodwood and who still holds thae official lap record. A must for anybody whos loves the thrills and excitement of motor racing as it used to be.
