Goodwood Revival 2008 DVDGoodwood Revival 2008 DVD
Ref: 2351
The 2008 Goodwood Revival featured spectacular racing action and some fantastic attractions
away from the track. Many visitors dressed in period fashions, with everyone enjoying the stunning air displays, a series of special track parades, the inaugural Earls Court Motor Show, the Freddie March Spirit of Aviation aircraft concours d'elegance, the live entertainment, the huge pre-1966 Revival Car Show and Revival Market, all to a back drop of fabulous early autumn sunshine.

The Revival saw 15 exciting races, combining the best drivers and riders with finest period racing machines. Racing highlights included the St Mary's Trophy for 1950s saloons; the 'new look' Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy for 1950s motorcycles; the 90-minute Freddie March Memorial Trophy,
in tribute to the famous Goodwood Nine Hour races; plus the blue-ribbon Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration, featuring the most expensive grid of historic racing cars ever assembled, with a combined worth of £85million.

The distinguished motor racing career of Roy Salvadori was also celebrated, with a mouth-watering parade of cars and drivers that formed a significant part of his competition career. Also recognised were the many great drivers and machines that have all played their part over the last 60 years in creating Goodwood's rich motor sport history. More pedestrian, and rather more unusual, was the 'Life on the Road in 1948' track parade, which depicted the wide variety of vehicles on the road in 1948, the year the circuit first opened its gates to the public.

The Revival saw 16 exciting races, pitting the best drivers and riders with period racing machines. Racing highlights included the St Mary's Trophy for 1960s saloons, the Sussex Trophy for 1950s sports cars, plus some lively motor cycle racing in the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy. The Royal Automobile Club TT celebration with a £30 million grid of beautiful sports cars provided some masterful racing from a host of professional stars, plus a few bumps and scrapes along the way.

As well as a host of magnificent flying machines in the air, the first ever Freddie March Spirit of Aviation saw over 20 of the finest pre-1966 civilian, commercial and military aircraft on static display for all to see. The art-deco ' Woad Corner ' showroom had a mouth-watering display of celebrated Ferrari road and race cars for visitors to lust over, and the inaugural Goodwood Revival Ladies Day also attracted appreciative glances of a different kind.

The distinguished motor racing career of Roy Salvadori was also celebrated, with a mouth-watering parade of cars and drivers that formed a significant part of his competition career. More pedestrian, and rather more unusual, was the parade of classic caravans from the 1920s and mid-1960s, each one towed by an appropriate period car, giving a nostalgic reminder of these unusual vehicles that became popular during the fuel-starved Suez Crisis 50 years ago.
